Matini asilia - Kiswahili Africa is one of the continent with abundant resources, but despite having lots of resources, Africa is still considered a continent in the 3rd world economy. One of the major reason that makes Africa fail to grow economically is the lack of a unified market.
When you look at the nations with large economies in the world, all share a characteristic of having a large consumer market. When you look at China And America both have a consumer market of a billion people. Even India that is growing at a fast pace economically, has a consumer market of a billion people. Having a large local consumer market helps the government, businesses and industries to strengthen and amass profits even before taping into foreign investments.
Companies from China & USA can attain grand success in their local markets compared to African countries.
For example, a Tanzanian business that penetrates and reaches 20% of the Tanzanian population, it will have approximately 15 million consumers, but a chinese company that succeeds to penetrate 20% of the China's population will have approximately 200 million consumers.
This is a challenge that stunts the economies of African nations. We lack a unified broad market, even though Africa has a population of not less than 1.3 billion people per statistics of 2022.
One of the reason, that makes Africa to not posses a unified market is the boundaries between our nations. Africa has 57 independent countries and each country has its own distinctive administration, constitution, policies and currency. A company from Tanzania that ventures to Kenya to open up business, is considered a foreign investor in Kenya. This outlook and boundaries between our African countries is what pulls us backwards, even though foreign countries see the African opportunity as a single market. Our outlook needs to change and unite our markets, if we wish to rise from the 3rd world economy.

My Translation Journey
I embarked on my translation journey in 2017, while i was pursuing my bachelors degree at University of Jinan, in Shandong province, China. I had an opportunity to work as an intern at Makeronly.com, an e-commerce platform that connects chinese manufacturers to foreign markets.
