People like José never die! He truly was one in a billion, and I will always be thankful for the idea he provided when I was asking for a possible topic of my PhD research. Actually, he helped me shape the title of my thesis! This is what he wrote to me, among other things: "Many movie actresses in the US have been successively labeled "America's sweetheart". You are probably "Macedonia's dream translator"." I will go beyond his statement, and call him "wo... See more People like José never die! Can't fathom that. R.I.P. | | | Very surprised by this news | Dec 18, 2018 |
Not long ago we crossed paths in a forum and as always he was very open and willing to contribute with his knowledge and insights. A pity. La mala hierba nunca muere, lástima que la buena muera tan joven.

We'll all miss José Henrique | Dec 19, 2018 |
I learned only today that José Henrique passed away. He'll be greatly missed. Here he was an example and always helpful to other translators. R.I.P. | | | My condolences | Dec 19, 2018 |
Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to get to know him. Every loss is painful. May God bless and have mercy with his family and friends. RIP
So sorry to hear that. Thank you, José for all your contributions, you will be missed. | | | DarwinE United States Local time: 04:04 Spanish to English + ... Sinto muito por essa triste perda | Dec 19, 2018 |
I found it peculiar that I hadn't seen him comment on anything in the last month or so because he was always a very active member in this community. As a Portuguese translator myself I always appreciated his contributions and his feedback. I even found myself reading some of his older posts from years back because they aged well and offered advice that was still useful today. We've definitely lost a role model on what it was to be a professional translator.

I’m utterly shocked. José and his warm and friendly smile and thoughtful comments were like a comfort blanket on these pages, one of those stabilising elements in a chaotic universe you expect to be around forever. And then suddenly gone. I’m speechless. So sad. Condolences to his loved ones. | | | Vincenzo Di Maso Portugal Local time: 10:04 Member (2009) English to Italian + ... a great contributor | Feb 11, 2019 |
very saddened with the passing of José. A great contributor on proz. I remember he was very helpful in giving me advices at the beginning of my career. And everyone really liked him. RIP | | | Just found out | Mar 1, 2019 |
I found it odd that José hadn't contributed to a recent thread about Infix (which I learned about thanks to him), or anywhere else recently, so I searched his name here to see whether he'd left the site. But I didn't expect that. Although I didn't know him, I have always enjoyed reading his very articulate posts, even the longer ones (!), and I am very sad that this site has lost such a valuable contributor. Sincere condolences to his friends and family. | | | Pages in topic: < [1 2 3 4] | There is no moderator assigned specifically to this forum.
