I am an experienced Chinese translator (NAATI accredited for both directions) and interpreter in the fields of business, building and construction, medicine, education, environment and law. Currently I am working for the Queensland Government, where I translate an array of business and legal documents to support foreign investors in Queensland.
Prior to this, I was with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in the Australian Embassy and the Foreign and Commonwealth Offices in the British Embassy in Beijing. In-house roles in diplomatic settings involved translating legal and diplomatic documents and official government websites, interpreting at press conferences and high profile public events, and face-to-face and telephone interviews.
In the Queensland Government, I translate government policies, correspondence, and proofread marketing collateral. I interpret for inbound delegations and high level government officials. At the Tourism Investment Forum held in 2013 at Queensland Parliament House, I interpreted for the Premier and Minister consecutively and conducted whispering for guests.
In the Australian Embassy, I led my team to deliver major translation projects to reflect policy and operational changes. In doing so, I proofread translations, and conducted quality checks to ensure all technical terms were rendered correctly and consistently throughout the projects. I also routinely interpreted for First Secretaries and Minister Councillors at high profile public events.
As a professional translator and AUSIT member, I strive to provide error free translations and my time management and prioritising skills ensure projects are delivered on time. Underpinning my excellent translation services is my IT skills, and I have utilised various systems to deliver excellent work.
