как бы перевели этот глагол применительно к ситуациям, когда у человека закончились все аргументы, и он начинает переходить на личности? На одном сайте объясняют так: Когда человеку говорят, что он слился, то многие представляют бурлящий поток воды, который изливается из унитаза и смывает нечистоты в канализацию. Это значит, что все аргументы собеседника признаются откровенным мусором (в оригинале: "аддский вы*ер"), о чём ему недвусмысленно намекают. Далее: Если вы разбили в пух и прах все доводы вашего собеседника, и он не хочет это признавать, утверждая, что не желает больше об этом говорить, то можно с чистой совестью заявить: "слив засчитан". После этой фразы дебаты разгораются с новой силой, ведь никто не хочет показать себя трусом, и слившимся в канализацию.
Меня интересует аналогичное сленговое выражение, которое в ходу у любителей холиваров на форумах или в молодежной тусовке.

I don't think that сливаться necessarily includes getting personal and stooping to the level of ad hominem attacks.
