Advektivne magle nastaju prilikom kretanja toplog vazduha iznad hladne podloge. U vertikalnom pravcu prostiru se i po nekoliko stotina metara obuhvatajući velika prostranstva.

Glavni uzročnik nastanka magle ili oblaka na tlu je kontakno hlađenje.
