Source text - English LEE Weston’s big hands clenched tightly around the handle of the spade. For a little while he could not continue and then, taking a breath that held the shudder of grief, he began to scoop thick red gumbo into the grave, covering the body of his father.
It was done, and the two mesquite sticks he had tied together with a rawhide thong in the form of a cross cast their shadow across the raw, ugly earth.
Lee Weston dropped the shovel and turned to walk with weary gait back to the heap of still-smoking ashes which had been his home. There was nothing left there. Not even the frame which had enclosed his mother’s picture had survived.
As he stood staring at the broken corrals and the ashes where the barn had once stood, his hands strayed to the guns on either thigh and his palms went up and down against the walnut, as though they itched.

Inoltre, ritengo che un’azione criminale di tale gravità e audacia non possa essere frutto delle decisioni di un singolo impiegato quale egli è, e che pertanto non può che essere fin dall'inizio frutto di Suoi ordini e indicazioni. Source text - English When is a private evaluation necessary?
Remember that you can pay for a private testing. If you have concerns about the ability of a school to provide the kind of testing your child needs, you may hire other qualified professionals to do an evaluation. To find out where you can have your child tested, check with your pediatrician, the pediatrics department of a local hospital, or your department of education.
• Seek a thorough evaluation by a team of specialists. The testing may take place at a diagnostic center or clinic by a team that includes psychologists, educators, and physicians. These professionals will want to find out which skills or tasks your child can perform easily and which are more difficult. The experts will also want to check for possible medical causes of the problem, such as trouble with eyesight or hearing.
• Keep in mind that further testing may be needed. If an evaluation does not show evidence of learning disabilities even though your child is having problems, he may need additional medical or other tests. Most initial evaluations for learning disabilities do not include complex medical tests, such as brain scans. Talk to your pediatrician about the results of the evaluation and ask what other steps you can take to determine the cause of your child’s difficulties. In some cases, children may benefit from drugs or other therapies that you and the doctor may want to discuss.
What will happen if your child has a learning disability?
If an evaluation finds that your child has a learning disability, or a gap between skills and achievement, your child’s school will work with you to develop an educational program suited to their needs. Here are some things you can expect:
• Specialists will talk with you about your child’s needs. The kind of experts you will work with will depend on your child’s specific needs. For example, if your child is having the most trouble with reading, you may work most closely with your child’s teacher and a reading specialist.
• Your child’s educational program will be adjusted over time. As specialists get to know your child, they will evaluate and adjust their educational program. These adjustments are not a sign that the tests were “wrong.” Your child’s school should consult you about these changes. The school should also do a complete reevaluation of your child every three years, and you or their teacher can request a reevaluation sooner.
• Remember that you may challenge the results. If you disagree with the results of an evaluation, bring up your concerns with the school that did the testing, and request in writing that the school pay for an independent assessment of your child. If the school won’t do this, you may contest the decision by filing a complaint with your state department of education or by requesting a special education hearing.

Cosa succede se suo figlio risulta avere problemi di apprendimento?
Se attraverso una valutazione scopre che il suo bambino accusa dei problemi di apprendimento oppure una differenza evidente tra l’ impegno che pone e i risultati che ottiene, la scuola si impegnerà con lei per sviluppare un programma educativo adatto alle necessità di suo figlio. Ecco qualche esempio di cosa lei può aspettarsi:
• Degli specialisti la informeranno sulle particolari necessità di suo figlio. Il genere di specialisti con cui entrerà a contatto, dipenderà dagli specifici bisogni di suo figlio. Se per esempio il suo bambino ha difficoltà soprattutto con la lettura, lei potrebbe arrivare a collaborare strettamente col suo insegnante e con uno specialista della lettura.
• Il programma educativo di suo figlio verrà modificato nel tempo. Una volta che gli specialisti avranno iniziato a conoscere meglio suo figlio, potrebbero ritenere opportuno modificare il programma educativo. Queste eventuali rettifiche non sono un segnale che le valutazioni effettuate erano sbagliate. In ogni caso, la scuola di suo figlio dovrebbe consultarla su questi cambiamenti. La scuola dovrebbe anche operare ogni tre anni una totale rivalutazione del bambino, e lei (o anche l’insegnante) può richiedere che essa venga anticipata.
• Si ricordi che lei può contestare i risultati.Se si trovasse in disaccordo con i risultati di una valutazione, esprima le sue perplessità alla scuola responsabile del test, e faccia richiesta scritta affinché essa paghi per una valutazione privata di suo figlio.
