Russian term

господним расположением

Russian to English Art/Literary Military / Defense
In this sentence about storming a castle: "Нападающие готовили к бою осадные орудия, штурмовые лестницы, точили мечи и затем, вдохновившись ***господним расположением***, лезли на стены."

A Google search turned up little enough, although the term seems to be used in religious texts. Maybe something like "the grace of God"? Anybody know for sure?

God's Grace

I would not translate as "inspired" in this case. I think in this situation it should sound something like this: "empowered by the God's Grace ..."

Благода́ть (др.-греч. χάρις, лат. gratia) — в христианском богословии понимается как нетварная Божественная сила или энергия, в которой Бог являет Себя человеку и которая даруется человеку для его спасения. С помощью этой силы человек преодолевает в себе греховное начало и достигает состояния обо́жения. Также благодатью называется незаслуженная милость и благоволение Бога по отношению к людям.

Grace (Christianity)
In Christian theology, grace is God’s gift of God’s self to humankind. It is understood by Christians to be a spontaneous gift from God to man - "generous, free and totally unexpected and undeserved"[1] - that takes the form of divine favour, love and clemency. It is an attribute of God that is most manifest in the salvation of sinners. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_(Christianity)

God's/the Lord's favor

...inspired by God's/the Lord's favor...

Also possible "liking", "inclination" instead of "favor"

"the grace of God" must be OK too. The meaning is the same, actually.

Also possible "God's/the Lord's benevolence".

P.S. I am absolutely sure in the meaning of the Russian phrase. I have set confidence at "medium" because I am not absolutely sure about the proper wording in English because I have read only a few religious texts in English.
Peer comment(s):

agree Michael Korovkin : "favour"/"favor" it is. Nothing fits better here, for "blessing" would've been “благословение“. As for "benevolent", He is (at least supposed to be!) benevolent to all!(while, it appears, favouring some more than others over their mutual killing) :)))

God’s (favorable) disposition

an apparent allusion to the expression "man supposes, while God disposes." Disposition, as Providence, can work both ways, that's why I'm adding "favorable," as suggested by the context.
Synonyms:
Divine (favorable) disposition
Lord’s (favorable) disposition

agree Alex Lilo : в плане точности - точнее не бывает :-)
