Клиентарно-патронажные практики, связи и сети заполняют, переформатируют и замещают публичные институты. Эта генеральная тенденция, набиравшая силу в условиях социальной аномии начала 1990-х годов, пройдя этап политического феодализма и -- «семибанкирщины» --- , в итоге не пошла по пути публичной конкуренции олигархических альянсов (украинский вариант), но зато расцвела в форме нового кремлевского абсолютизма.


Все это заставляет вспомнить термин "семибанкирщина" – инкубатор олигархов образца середины 1990-х годов. За бюджетные деньги, оказавшиеся тогда в коммерческих банках, велись настоящие банковские войны. С созданием Федерального казначейства схема рухнула. Как выяснилось, не навсегда.

That's the way I wrote it throughout Stanislav Menshikov's "The Anatomy of Russian Capitalism," but in one place, where he was discussing not just the phenomenon, but the term (as you have, here), I also transliterated it:
"At that time, thanks to Berezovsky, the term semibankirshchina (Reign of the Seven bankers) gained currency."

Thanks, Galina. I would stick with "Bankers" though, both because of the construction of the word, and because it sounds better w "reign". And those banks were strongly identified with 1 person, each (except for 2 at Alfabank, but no matter).

agree The Misha : Of course, she couldn't "find it in google" - there's no such word, really, so yours is as good as any. Either way you put it, the meaning is lost on your average native, so a translator's note would definitely be in order.
