Finnish term

tasokorjattu

Finnish to English Science Other Data treatment (aerogeophysical surveying)
For example: "Mittaustuloksia ei ole tasokorjattu" (http://arkisto.gtk.fi/m19/4322/m19_4322_2009_79.pdf)
It seems to mean statistical treatment of data to bring it all to the same "level": I think "equalized" is the correct term (i.e to equalize the data).
Can anyone confirm or correct this?

Discussion

Timo Lehtilä Nov 4, 2010:
'Equlize' is actually 'yhdenmukaistaa' 'Tasokorjata' only refers to some systematical correction of data up or down. It is also possible to 'tasokorjata' some group of data so that it is not comparable with some other group of data. 'Equalize' is actually 'yhdenmukaistaa', but in many cases it can be used as an equivalent for 'tasokorjata'. An exact translation for 'tasokorjata' might be 'perform a systemtic level correction'.

equalized

I believe you are correct. Looking at Google hits of the term, the non-technical hits definitely mean "equalized" e.g. equalizing social security payments. If you compare the two web references below, you can also find parallel usage of tasokorjattu and equalized in the context of photographic distortion compensation.
