Spanish term

realizar todos los actos y contratos

Spanish to English Law/Patents General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
This appears in a document relating to powers of attorney in a business for translation from Spanish into UK English.

Context:

I would normally translate this as 'to perform all acts and enter into all contract' or something similar but I have been given a supporting document as a guide which I have been told to stick to strictly and every time this phrase comes up - and it comes up a lot - it has been translated as 'Execute any legal provisions and contracts'. The supporting document is a very good translation so I have now come to doubt my own opinion. Obviously an 'act' can be a 'legal provision' in some circumstances but here I think it is completely wrong. Do let me know your thoughts. TIA.

Sorry to close with giving points but I did not use any of the answers given and thought that Seth's comment was most useful but he did not put an answer up.

Always follow your own senses
Jane Martin (asker) Jul 18, 2022:
@ Seth Thank you for this. I will of course advise the client but the rest of the translation is such a good one that I began to doubt my own opinion!
Seth Phillips Jul 18, 2022:
Yes, I agree they have missed the mark Likely "actos" refers to legal transactions, so I would use something like "entering into legal transactions and contracts." The ethical thing to do would be to advise your client of the error in their guide.

Summary
Spanish to English: more detail...

actos:
proceedings
acto:
action; deed; act; event; occurrence; occasion; affair; matter; business
Wiktionary:
acto → deed, act
acto → action, act, acquirement, accomplishment, achievement, deed, doing, organizing, activity, document, paper, warrant, certificate, piece, bit, chamber, ward, lump

Note from asker:
I think deeds here could be confusing with 'instrumentos'
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : You'll disagree with this, but "all" is redundant :-)

If you would care to look at some sample En language POAs you will see that the inclusion of "all" is very common

carry out all (manner of) dealings and contracts

... sobre = in (respect of).

Perform dealings arguably works vs. conduct that or which doesn't for contracts.

Cut to Seth P's discussion enry re transactions.

BTW, it's actos rather than the usual mix-up of actas as records, instruments or deeds.

Middling CL / confidence level because of ProZ translators' and interpreters' odd aversion to the legal, stockbroking and conveyancing term of art of dealings.
Example sentence:

Constant access: The digitization of banking means that customers can now access their accounts 24/7 and carry out all manner of transactions ...
