I am making big efforts in studying Chinese, but as all foreigners, I have difficulties in memorizing a large number of characters.



Is there any good character dictionary available (book or CD) that explains the composition of each character?

For example: na2 (hold) = close/shut + hand

or: piao1 (float) = water + phonetic of piao4



(Preferrably explaining both the traditional and simplified composition of the characters.)

It would be much easier and more efficient way of memorizing characters if I knew the concept behind.
