Phil is right about the context. The more you consider the context, the more "nothing more worthy than themselves" becomes only a figure of speech. It is more a commentary on these young people's lack of experience than anything else. It has nothing to do with them being self-indulgent or showing off.

可能跟我的翻译差不多，有点发挥过度了，咱还是尽量扣住原文吧。不过我很认同你的观察，年轻人都喜欢炫耀，成天跟个雄孔雀似的：）

沒先說明白。本想提供點我腦子裡的畫面，倒無意建議用這兩句取代翻譯。畢竟，翻譯不是創作改寫。:-)
