I don't have much time for blogs, but I read the daily digest of Proz.com translation news and I hope to get at least the essential part of what happens out there!

As I am on Twitter, links to translation blogs seem to be posted every five minutes (slight exaggeration here), and I just wondered how many people actually find the time to read them, and, especially if there is a blog you follow on a regular basis. I'm afraid I barely have time for anything, let alone blogging and reading them, so I only read blog posts which other Twitter users highly recommend, and because the title leads me... Seldom, if ever, do i get the chance to read a blog or two. The time I might have at hand between translation is either "down-time" or spend doing other business related things, that have been procrastinated for too long.

I've never even managed to get round all the proz site content, although if I do come across translation-related stuff when trawling the web I tend to have a swatch at it, blog or no blog...

Twitter has helped me out in this sense; the people I follow are good at sharing what's interesting and the Twitter feed is something I can read through quickly and I decide what to read further on.
I also use Google Reader for keeping up on translation blogs and other sites. This allows me to check in maybe once a day (some times it's once a week, but that's okay since the reader keeps track of what I've read) and see what's new. There often isn't time to read everything word for word, but there are usually one or two posts which stand out. Some blog posts are also featured in the Translation news section, depending on the subject matter (opinion, events, product news, or industry news), http://www.proz.com/translation-news/ . The nice thing about the reader is that I can have all this content shown in one place and check it when I have time.
On the subject of translator blogs, I've started a list of active blogs at http://blogproz.wordpress.com/translation-blogs/ , to which everyone is welcome to contribute (I'll add any which are recommended here too).

Occasionally colleagues on Twitter post links to blog entries. If the headline grabs my interest, I might look at the entry briefly. But I don't make a habit of it.

I've been wondering about business blogs today and how they can work for a translator. The principles of blogging for business (such as offering promotions and such) just don't seem to fit in with the profile of a translator (unless you want to give away free translations, which I don't!) What do you think is more effective - a blog for other translators or aimed at clients?
Furthermore, I hate to be sceptical as I have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. but has anyone actually seen... I will have quick look at the links recommended here, but in general I find the blog form enormously time-consuming in relation to the amount of useful information or food for thought I actually take with me when I move on.
