Heavy weight Jun 20, 2010

Yes.
A heavy weight for everybody's stomach.
Earthquakes, seaquakes and neverending catastrophes.

Not adviced (neither for readers nor for translators).

By the way:
Despite of the editor's opinion, I don't think it finally became a best-seller.

Not a best-seller, but I got royalties Jun 20, 2010

I received royalties for about 5 years from a book I translated for the University of Texas Press.

Not yet... Jun 20, 2010

Perhaps the book I'm translating now will become one... I certainly can't put it down.

Not a best seller, but... Jun 20, 2010

In 2007 I translated a political-religious-adventure thriller from Russian into English.
It was "Тайна царя Иоанна", by Piotr Homyakov.

I was paid on a per-word basis. I could have gone for royalties instead, but I think I would have got less that way.
I enjoyed this job. The author and his agent were very helpful, and I learned a lot of colloquial and other Russian terms from it.

Not an eventual best-seller, but Bestselling Authors Jun 20, 2010

I've translated into Portuguese

The Art of War for Women by Chin-Ning Chu
&
An Offer You Can't Refuse by Jill Mansell

Both bestselling authors. I'm eager to continue working on this type of projects.

That is awesome. Jun 20, 2010

Are you credited as the translator on the acknowledgments page/inside cover? If so, you may want to take an image of that page and insert it into the Amazon listing by pressing "Share your own images".

I often read novels that have been translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French and I always look at the translator's name and try to find them on ProZ. It seems that most literary translators do not have a profile here.

Nice change Jun 22, 2010

Like Susana I have also translated one novel by Jill Mansell (Making Your Mind Up), and also Lipstick Jungle by SATC Candace Bushell, into Swedish.
Don't think either are exactely best-sellers, but childrens book Molly Moons Incredible Book of Hypnotism definitely was.
Nice change from medical translations.
