my income - I am happy, but you know, I would be happier my leisure time - well, related to the first, more money, more time for me my marketing skills - I do not pay too much attention, I concentrate on translating, and maybe this would help me achieve the first 2 my translation quality - I think there is always something to learn and improve, so same position as the others

My administration/secretarial abilities (lack of) are rudimentary at best. Anything that is not translation of text per se (admin, formatting...) is a real chore for me and I am apt to forget to bill clients if it is for smallish amounts or even for accumulated revisiones (mostly for Universities). I spent all yesterday afternoon preparing about a dozen bills that I should have issued sooner, and this morning I have had to redo one bill 3 times due to discrepancies in the address this cli... Also yesterday, it took me just over an hour to select and extract the files listed in an Excel doc column corresponding to the second semester of 2010 and add up the figures. Why are clients aware of the working conditions of all other professionals, like doctors, lawyers, pilots,... and not of the working conditions of translators?

At the point I am in my career, I think marketing skills is the most important thing to improve! Once I have those, then I can get more clients and improve my income and get some stability into my working hours! | | | income for sure | Apr 24, 2010 |
but i would also like to improve some of my software skills and time management...i could stand to be a bit more organized. | |
