Source text - Romanian Ţara noastră are o reţea hidrografică bine dezvoltată, ce însumează cca. 70.000 km cursuri de apă. O caracteristică importantă a acestor cursuri de apă este apariţia periodică a unor viituri produse ca urmare a topirii zăpezilor, căderii unor ploi cu intensitate mare, sau suprapunerii acestor fenomene. Durata, amploarea, şi caracteristicile viiturilor sunt determinate atât de condiţiile fizico-geografice existente în bazinele hidrografice cât şi de condiţiile climatice specifice regiunilor ţării care generează distribuţii diferite cantitative şi spaţiale ale precipitaţiilor de la o zonă la alta. Alţi factori importanţi care influenţează viiturile sunt: caracteristicile morfometrice ale bazinelor hidrografice reprezentate de relief şi mărimea suprafeţei de recepţie, structura solului, gradul de saturaţie cu apă a terenului, structura şi tipul de vegetaţie, gradul de eroziune a solului, etc.
Translation - English Romania has an extensive hydrographic network amounting to about 70,000 km of waterways. An important feature of these waterways is the periodic occurrence of flash floods generated by melting of snow, heavy rainfalls or both. The duration, intensity and features of flash floods are determined by the physiographical conditions in the hydrographic basins, as well as by the climate conditions specific to those regions of the country which generate a distribution of precipitation which differs from one region to another in terms of quantity and coverage area. Among other important factors influencing flash floods are morphometric features of hydrographic basins - relief and size of the reception area, soil structure, water saturation, structure and type of vegetation, soil erosion etc.
