Source text - German Das Long-Range Kaliber .338 Lapua Magnum erfreut sich stetig steigender Beliebtheit.
Zum einen ermöglicht der rasante technische Fortschritt bei Waffen und Optiken immer mehr das Schießen und Jagen auf weiten Distanzen.
Zum anderen wird von Munition auf Jagdreisen der Einsatz auf unterschiedlichste Distanzen und Wildgewichte gefordert.
So ist zum Beispiel bei Gebirgsjagden oder auf stärkeres - afrikanisches - Wild eine hohe Durchschlagskraft sowie hohe Stoppwirkung unabdingbar.
RWS hat nun ein passendes jagdliches Geschoss für dieses rasante Kaliber entwickelt, welches Geschosseinsatzreichweiten von nah bis über 400m und gleichzeitig variable Wildgewichte zuverlässig abdeckt.
Die XXXX gehört zu den neuesten Entwicklungen aus dem Hause RWS, die insbesondere für eine sehr hohe Schock/Stoppwirkung und den Einsatz auf weite Schussdistanzen stehen.
Die stromlinienförmige Geschossform des XXX XXXX XXX endet vorne mit der Speed-Tip Geschossspitze, die für geringen Luftwiderstand und damit eine extrem gestreckte Flugbahn sorgt.
Auch auf weite Schussdistanzen ermöglicht die neuartige Geschossspitze präzise Schüsse und eine maximale Augenblickswirkung.
Im Heck mündet die Geschossform in einem V-Tail-Heck, das durch seine Form ebenfalls für Präzision und Flugstabilität auf weite Distanzen sorgt.
Abgestimmt auf das breite Einsatzspektrum ist das neue Geschoss XXX mit einem 2-Kern-Aufbau aus Blei, basierend auf dem bewährten H-Mantel-Prinzip, entwickelt:
Ein etwas weicherer schnell ansprechender Frontkern und ein durchschlagsstarker, härterer Heckkern.

Da un lato, il rapido progresso tecnico di armi e ottiche consente di sparare in caccia e nel tiro sportivo da distanze maggiori.
Dall’altro, nei viaggi di caccia, alle munizioni si richiede la possibilità di impiego su varie distanze e selvaggina di peso variabile.
Così, ad esempio, nella caccia in montagna o con la possente selvaggina africana, un elevato potere di penetrazione e d’arresto sono imprescindibili.
XXX ha sviluppato una palla da caccia adatta a questo rapido calibro Long-Range, che può coprire distanze fino a 400 metri in modo affidabile con diversi tipi di selvaggina.
La XXX è uno degli sviluppi più recenti di casa RWS, che vanta in particolare un elevato potere d’arresto/d’impatto e la possibilità d’impiego sulle lunghe distanze.
La nuova e snella XXX presenta nella parte anteriore una punta Speed-Tip, che assicura una bassa resistenza aerea e di conseguenza la massima radenza.
Anche sulle lunghe distanze, questa nuova punta consente tiri precisi e il massimo effetto sull’impatto.
Nella parte posteriore, il proiettile presenta la cosiddetta coda V-Tail, la cui forma assicura precisione e stabilità in traiettoria sulle lunghe distanze.
Studiata per un ampio ventaglio di possibilità d’impiego, la nuova palla XXX è stata concepita con una struttura a doppio nucleo di piombo basata sul noto principio H-Mantel:
un nucleo anteriore un po' più leggero e rapido e un nocciolo posteriore più potente e robusto.
Il rivestimento in acciaio fuso nichelato, inoltre, garantisce un'elevata stabilità di forma del corpo residuo e assicura, anche con prede particolarmente robuste, il foro di uscita e la presenza della traccia di sangue.
La XXX è stata sviluppata appositamente sulle esigenze di questo calibro per ottenere potere d’arresto, potere di penetrazione e capacità balistica Long-Range eccellenti.
Tutti i vantaggi in sintesi:
•Balistica radente.
La traiettoria radente e l’alta velocità consentono di cacciare anche da distanze molto lontane.
Questo è possibile grazie alla geometria Long Range del proiettile, alla punta Speed-Tip e alla coda V-Tail.

Il nocciolo della coda, più duro, serve a esprimere il potere di penetrazione.
In caccia, questo si traduce in distanze di fuga sensibilmente ridotte, in un sicuro foro di uscita e nella presenza della traccia di sangue.
•Alta precisione.
Una precisione superiore è essenziale nei tiri dalle lunghe distanze.
Questo aspetto viene assicurato dalla presenza della coda di precisione V-Tail e dalla superficie nichelata del proiettile.

Source text - English Overview of the M119A1/A2 105mm Towed Howitzer
The M119 was first deployed in the 7th Infantry Division, Fort Ord in December 1989.
The modified howitzer, M119A1, was fielded to the 82nd Airborne Division in July 1991 and 101st Airborne Division in August 1992.
The US Army concluded the M119A1 fielding in 1995.
In April 2009, the M119A2 howitzer was fielded in Afghanistan and Iraq by the 4th Infantry Combat Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division.
The M119 is presently used by all regular Army infantry brigades in the 10th Mountain, 25th Infantry, 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne Divisions.
The howitzer also serves the 173rd Airborne Brigade and National Guard field artillery battalions.
Ammunition
The M119 can fire all standard Nato 105mm ammunition including the M1 high explosive rounds, M913 high explosive rocket assisted shells, M314 illuminating star shell and M60/M60A2 white phosphorous smoke cartridge.
Fire control
The M119 is lighter and has a more rapid rate of fire than its predecessor, the M102.
The maximum rate of fire is six rounds per minute for the first two minutes.
The sustained rate of fire is three rounds per minute for 30 minutes.
It has a standard firing range of 14,000m and a maximum range of 19,500m can be achieved with rocket-assisted shells.
A standard crew of seven is needed to prepare the howitzer for firing.
In August 2010, the US Army signed a $65m indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with Honeywell for high-performance, shock-tolerant artillery Tactical Advanced Land Inertial Navigator (aTALIN) for its M119 fleet.
Mobility
The M119 can be easily moved and rapidly deployed in the field to deliver optimum fire power with less combat weight.
The howitzer has a lower silhouette and can fire without a recoil pit.
It is primarily towed by the HMMWV (high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle).
It can be routinely air dropped by parachute and also carried under slung by the CH-47 Chinook or UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

Overview of the SA80 A2 L85 Assault Rifle
The SA80 A2 L85 is a 5.56mm gas-operated assault rifle manufactured by Heckler & Koch.
It is a member of the SA80 family of assault weapons and serves the British Armed Forces as Individual Weapon (IW) and Light Support Weapon (LSW).
The SA80 series of rifles entered service with the British Army in 1985.
The SA80 family underwent a major mid-life update in 2002, during which the SA80 A1 rifles were upgraded to the SA80 A2 standard.
The SA80 A2 L85 is mounted with a SUSAT (Sight Unit Small Arms Trilux) telescope and a Common Weapon Sight (CWS).
The SUSAT optical sight on a quick-detachable mount above the receiver is equipped with a fixed 4x magnification and tritium-powered illuminated reticle.
Back-up iron sights are also mounted on the body of SUSAT.
The SA80 A2 used by the non-operating military units is fitted with fixed iron sights integrating a flip rear sight and a post foresight.
The rifles used by the UK armed forces are also equipped with the Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) in place of SUSAT.
The UK Ministry of Defence preferred Elcan SpecterOS 4x lightweight optical day sight under the Future Integrated Soldier Technology (FIST) programme.
The new sight will replace ageing SUSAT units across the UK Armed Forces.
The SA80 A2 was provided with new adaptor to mount the new sight, while the SpecterOS sight is equipped with an illuminated reticle.

Translation - Italian Panoramica dell’obice a traino meccanico M119A1/A2 da 105 mm
L’M119 è entrato in servizio per la prima volta presso la 7ª divisione fanteria dislocata a Fort Ord nel mese di dicembre 1989.
L'obice modificato M119A1, è stato assegnato all'82ª divisione aviotrasportata nel mese di luglio 1991 e alla 101ª divisione aviotrasportata nel mese di agosto 1992.
L'esercito degli Stati Uniti ha terminato l’introduzione dell’M119A1 nel 1995.
Nel mese di aprile 2009, l'obice M119A2 fu schierato in Afghanistan e in Iraq dalla 4ª brigata di fanteria, un’unità inquadrata nella 3ª divisione fanteria.
Al momento, l’M119 è in uso presso tutte le brigate di fanteria dell'esercito che fanno parte delle seguenti unità: 10ª divisione truppe da montagna, 25ª divisione fanteria, 82ª e 101ª divisione aviotrasportata.

Munizionamento
L’M119 è in grado di sparare tutte le granate NATO standard da 105 mm, tra cui le M1 HE, le M913 HERA, le M314 illuminanti e le M60/M60A2 WP nebbiogene.
Controllo del fuoco
L’M119 è più leggero, e la cadenza di tiro è maggiore rispetto al predecessore, l’M102.
La cadenza di tiro massima è pari a sei colpi al minuto per i primi due minuti.
La cadenza di tiro prolungata è pari a tre colpi al minuto per 30 minuti.
La gittata standard è 14.000 m, mentre la gittata massima di 19.500 m può essere raggiunta utilizzando granate RA.
Per mettere in batteria l’obice, è necessaria una squadra pezzo composta da sette unità.
Nel mese di agosto 2010, l’esercito degli Stati Uniti ha firmato un contratto IDIQ (indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity) da 65 mln. di USD con Honeywell, per la fornitura di aTALIN (un navigatore inerziale tattico terrestre avanzato) ad alte prestazioni, resistente agli urti, destinato al parco obici M119.
Mobilità
L’M119 può essere movimentato facilmente e schierato rapidamente, erogando una potenza di fuoco ottimale con un minor peso a pieno carico.
L'obice presenta un profilo più basso, ed è in grado di sparare senza buca di rinculo.
Viene trainato principalmente da veicoli ruotati multiuso ad alta mobilità.
Può essere aviolanciato (paracadutato) normalmente o anche trasportato mediante imbracatura da elicotteri CH-47 Chinook o UH-60 Black Hawk.

Fa parte della famiglia di armi d’assalto SA80, e viene impiegato presso le forze armate britanniche come arma individuale e arma di supporto leggero.
La serie di fucili SA80 è entrata in servizio nell'esercito britannico nel 1985.
Nel 2002, la famiglia SA80 è stata sottoposta a un'importante aggiornamento a metà della vita tecnica prevista, nel corso del quale i fucili SA80 A1 sono stati aggiornati allo standard SA80 A2.

La mira ottica SUSAT applicata su un supporto a sgancio rapido al di sopra del castello è dotata di ingrandimento fisso a 4x e di un reticolo illuminabile al trizio.

L’SA80 A2 impiegato presso i reparti non operativi, presenta organi di mira fissi in acciaio con un mirino posteriore ribaltabile e una tacca di mira anteriore.
I fucili impiegati presso le forze armate britanniche sono provvisti di ottica ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) Trijicon anziché della SUSAT.
Nel quadro del programma tecnologico FIST (Future Integrated Soldier Technology), il ministero della difesa del Regno Unito ha dato la preferenza al sistema di mira ottico diurno leggero Elcan SpecterOS 4x.
Il nuovo sistema di mira sostituirà le unità SUSAT, ormai obsolescenti, impiegate presso le forze armate britanniche.
