ИМХО, "смена, когда ...экономически нецелесообразными" - это очень русский оборот и требуется передать мысль другими словами, не переводя ключевых слов. Вот моя попытка. Ещё хотелось написать, что старые технологии "... lose out in the competition to newer, more...", но явного выигрыша не вижу
