Discussion

Peter Cox (asker) Mar 28, 2012:
No further context available. However, on re-reading the entire text it became clearer that this referred to transfer pricing. Thanks for all the contributions!
tradu-grace Mar 27, 2012:
PVC and DRE I'm just back home from teaching lessons, I agree with benepasq
PVC stands for Processo verbale di constatazione and DRE is Direzione Regionale delle Entrate. I've already dealt with those terms in previous translations.
benepasq Mar 27, 2012:
Tax inspection Yes, maybe a little more context could help. Anyway, I think PVC could mean "Processo verbale di constatazione" and DRE "Direzione Regionale delle Entrate"
philgoddard Mar 27, 2012:
Yes, these are just fragments of sentences with no context, and I'm sure there must be something else in the document that answers your question, or at least gives a clue. I don't know about other people, but I have no idea what PVC or DRE are either.
tradu-grace Mar 27, 2012:
@Peter Hi Peter, the context you provided us with, it's not enough, at least to me, to judge if they are dealing with **progressive tax** or **transfer pricing**. Are you able from the whole context of the translation to see if something else might give us a hint ? Thank you indeed.

Transfer pricing

Just an idea...
Peer comment(s):

neutral tradu-grace : not a bad idea benepasq. However, I'm not sure they are dealing with transfer pricing here, the context given isn't enough for me to judge it.

Above link reads as follows:
L’invarianza tra T.S. (tassazione separata) e T.P. (tassazione
progressiva) si colloca a 35.050, laddove l’aliquota media di
tassazione è il 27,5%, senza considerare però che nel caso di
T.P. potrebbero esserci deduzioni (es. contributi
previdenziali) e detrazioni di imposta ...

Last partial update, March 2012
Italy Income Tax Rates 2012

Taxation of an individual's income in Italy is progressive. In other words, the higher the income, the higher the rate of tax payable.
In 2012 the tax rate for an individual is between 23%-43%, In addition to direct taxation (IRPEF), there is also a regional tax of 1.2%-2.03% and a municipal tax of 0.1%-0.8%.
There are reduced rates of tax and tax exemptions available to certain income earners.
The standard rate of Italy corporate tax (IRES) in 2012 is 27.5%%.
In addition, local tax (IRAP) is imposed at a rate of generally 3.9%, bringing the effective tax rate to 31.4%.

@philgoddard
Here's a recent link from il SOLE 24 ORE March 6, 2012, specifying not all income tax is progressive:

just an abstract:
http://www.ilsole24ore.com/art/finanza-e-mercati/2012-03-06/...
6 marzo 2012 IL SOLE 24 ORE
Favoriti i grandi patrimoni.

neutral philgoddard : I'm not sure about this. Surely all income tax is progressive?

No philgoddard, I'm not sure but who's sure for the time being. Fiscal and tax issues are an on-going changing matter. However, see above my added note 'cause here room isn't enough ...
