Discussion

José Patrício Jul 8, 2022:
See my notes, please
Hermien Desaivre (asker) Jul 8, 2022:
Thank you all This is why this platform is so useful. I learn every time there is a discussion and not just about terms - when challenged, one is forced to take a step back and really consider your reasoning and your sources. I will close with Cristina getting kudoz, but will add only "perzentil" to the term base for this question. Any search will bring up this discussion for future reference. If anyone disagrees, please reach out to a moderator. Again, thank you for the prompt response. It was a great help.
Steffen Walter Jul 8, 2022:
No way, José You should have realised by now that they are not synonyms (see the links cited in my peer comment on Cristina's answer). Your thesaurus source is dubious at best.
José Patrício Jul 8, 2022:
What is another word for percentile?
percentile - syn percentage, percent - https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/another-word-for/percentil...
Maybe the Asker should ask, in case she finds anything "to mislead".
Steffen Walter Jul 7, 2022:
No The fact that you included "percent", "%" etc. at the same time continues to mislead the asker. Why even mention "percent" or "percentage"?
@ Steffen In my note added at 18 mins I specified about 'percent(age)':
- "percent, %, p/c, pc., p.c. [Am.]"
Therefore, it should be clear:
- "PC (percentile)"
Furthermore, the difference between 'percentage' and 'percentile' is/was clearly explained in my link.
Steffen Walter Jul 7, 2022:
Further to my peer comment below, ... ... the fact that Cristina suggested both "percent(age)" and "percentile" is misleading, despite the difference between the two being explained in the referenced link. "Percentile" ist the only possible solution in the context of this question.
philgoddard Jul 6, 2022:
Perzentil?

PC (percent, percentile)

neutral philgoddard : You appear to be confusing percent and percentile. They're not the same thing.
