Please, Jianming, take it easy. We are all learning in every respect, including the correct way of interaction among people. Time and learning heal. Don't take it too hard or personally.

I will never forget the insults I got here, and those haughty and conceited guys. I will never forget the insults I got here, and those haughty and conceited guys. Thats their true attitude towards us, though some of them sometimes pretend to be friendly when they want to use us.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 4, 2004:
I should have closed it sooner. In the weeklong holiday here for our National Day, so many friends and things need to be dealt with, but I did not expect I would become a laughing stock here.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 4, 2004:
Thanks, Wenjer!

Don't worry about that. I know exactly what happened with you. That was why I put my answer with a :O) and the explanation.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 4, 2004:
Hello! Of caurse, I know what EU stands for and what European Union is. As I said I just forgot to consult dictionaries for Europische and if I had found it standing for European . I would not have posted such an elementary question. But as I know the easy level questions are just for learners, whats the point for some educated person made such a fuss over it? The reason I have posted questions here is of course because there are much fewer German-Chinese translators and I hope got timely help. I dont feel it difficult for some educated gentlemen to understand.
Of course, I appreciated helps I have got at proz.com very much! Thanks!
Wenjer Leuschel (X) Oct 4, 2004:
No problem. People will help at KudoZ, whenever they have time to help.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 3, 2004:
it should be "Fahrzeugs".
Non-ProZ.com Oct 3, 2004:
Thanks for pointing typo out. Yes, it ishould be Fahrzeugs.
Russ Oct 3, 2004:
sorry, noch ein "typo": des Fahrzeugs...oder des Fahrzeuges, sicherer--

European Union

:O)

But it's not an European Union of labor. It is the European Union of states.

Danke, Norbert.
agree Edith Kelly : I'm always amazed at the questions some people pose. Any online dico would do.

Hi Edith, the EU is something unclear to a Chinese mind. It is always the case that things are to be learned and have to be learned. Cheers.

Was für eine Freude! Alle Europäer stimmen zu. Da klingt mir Beethoven im Ohr.
agree RobinB : But what really intrigues me is why somebody in China with evidently little knowledge of German is translating into English a German text about the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive!

I must explain this. There are fewer translators who do German>Chinese translation than English>Chinese. The asker is probably doing both English>Chinese and German>Chinese and he needs help from translators who do German>English.

agree Aniello Scognamiglio (X) : Honestly speaking, at least a *German* translator should know what the European Union (EU) is.

Danke.
agree writeaway : I must also express my amazement about this question. It's not really a question of language and with the EU (and Germany in particular) so actively investing in China,is hard to believe an educated Chinese would be stumped by the term EU in any language

There are always some questions which are obviously common sense but which are unknown to some people. I know the asker well enough to understand why he posted the question without a second thought on the question.
Something went wrong...
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks! I am sorry for being lazy this time. I did not do my homework before asking so elementary an question. "Honestly speaking", I am not a *German* translator yet. I am learning German. :)"
