German term

KS

German to English Other International Org/Dev/Coop Embassy
I've a document here from a German embassy in a Middle-Eastern country. It is signed by a German employee, where KS follows his name. Any idea what KS stands for? Is it a qualification or a job title?

E.g.
Botschaft der Bundesrepublik Deutschland
City, date
Michael Schmidt, KS
Proposed translations (English)
3 +4 consular secretary
2 Consul

Discussion

Orla Ryan (asker) Sep 16, 2005:
that occured to me afterwards, but i just let it be.
tectranslate ITS GmbH Sep 16, 2005:
Just a question: Wouldn't it make more sense to restrict answering to native speakers of the *German* language, as it's not the *translation* that causes you a headache, but the *source text*?

agree Steve Yates : Just what I was thinking.

agree Kim Metzger : Apparently there are consular secretaries in embassies, but a consul would be working at a consulate.
