From a Swiss German menu. The full item is 'Kalbsfilet rosa gebraten und Kalbsbäggli'. I obviously know that Kalb means 'veal' or calf' but have never come across 'Bäggli' before. Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheek of veal/Calf's cheek
Despite what the name conjours up, Bäggli are not sweetbreads, but the cheek from a calf's head.
I the reference sentence, the calf is a bit older, but it has lost what you thought bäggli could have meant :-)

A tip: if you find a Swiss word with "gg", just try replacing the two letters with "ch" or "ck" to get closer to the germane equivalent.
Oggsä Bäggli = Ochsä Bäckli (almost Schwäbisch) = Ochsenbacken

Although germane (in the sense of closely related) works quite well, too :-)
