This is the word used in the theatre for a sky-cloth, i.e. a backdrop which looks like a sky. Whether it's the same as a Horizontgewebe" I'm not sure. (Freudian slip - I originally read the second word as "-gewerbe".....!)

Drapes is the vernacular term given to drop-down gauzes in the theatre, so maybe this is what you need.

I'm not sure exactly what is meant by these horizon curtians, but would backdrop suffice? Are these curtains not part of the background?
