How can avoid this kind of spam without blocking my own email address? I'm using Incredimail Xe. My domain and email address are the ones provided by Proz to its members.

Many thanks.

They are sent from YOUR e-mail to YOUR e-mail even if not by you. I figured it out when I found tons of receipts in my junk folder for the e-mail sending spams to my other e-mail

And by the way ... DO NOT OPEN THE FILES ATTACHED IN THE SPAMS SHOWING PICTURE FILES. As I found it on the internet, you'll see nothing then, but your files (docs and other text formats) will go empty one after one. So, be careful!

Good luck, and please let me know if you were ever able to solve that annoying trouble out

one suggestion Feb 14, 2006

Just in case your email account was hijacked change the password on the email that the spam appears to be being sent from. However, it's probably as the other post suggests, just appearing to come from you. Hence, you can change your filter settings to block all mail coming from this account into the one where you're receiving it (don't forget you've done this if you decide you'd like to email yourself something).
