Je suis actuellement traducteur indépendant et je cherche à affiner davantage mes connaissances en matière juridique afin d’élargir mon champ de compétences et de me spécialiser davantage dans ce domaine. En connaissez-vous en Belgique ou à distance? Que me conseillez-vous? Merci d’avance

Merci de votre réponse. Savez-vous par ailleurs si ces formations sont également données à distance? N'habitant pas à proximité de ces universités, cela serait plus facile pour moi.
Je sais que la Chambre belge des Traducteurs et Interprètes organisait par le passé ce type de formation spécifique, mais il m'a été confirmé que ce n'est plus le cas depuis un certain nombre d'années.

Malheureusement, je ne sais pas ! J’ai vécu en Belgique une bonne trentaine d’années mais j’ai déménagé en 2015 et je suis revenue au Portugal. Le mieux ce sera de demander directement à ces Institutions ou alors au Centre de Formation à Distance ; même s’ils ne proposent pas ce type de formation ils pourront vous conseiller et vous donner des informations utiles…

I am a lawyer and a translator. I cannot even count the number of unclear, bad, or even horrifically incorrect translations I've seen in copyediting jobs I've done -- most translators do not understand the law well enough to translate legal documents.
So my advice is to NOT study translation any more than you already have -- instead, study law. The CNED (Centre National d'Enseignement à Distance) in France offers several formations in law ranging from one to four years in length, very reasonably priced, and available to do on your own time, online and through reading at home. I couldn't agree more with Eliza Hall. Start with the law degree and add translation is the best order, but definitely at some stage study law to become a legal translator.
Also think about your source and target languages and make yourself familiar with procedures and court systems in all those jurisdictions. Sometimes you can translate the name of a court, for example and sometimes you need to add an explanation.
