I have an Iphone 14 pro and I haven't been receiving Gmail (or Yahoo mail) notifications on my phone properly for more than a week now.
I haven't changed any of the settings, nor updated the phone till yesterday. I tried disabling/enabling Gmail notifications from the settings and turning off/on the phone. I haven't changed any of the settings, nor updated the phone till yesterday. I tried disabling/enabling Gmail notifications from the settings and turning off/on the phone. When I do that and try sending myself an email I seem to get the notification with an alert initially, but after that I don't hear any alerts from the phone and when I check the Gmail app later in the day, I see a number of emails received minutes, hours ago. Sometimes I see Gmail notifications appear on the screen, but I haven't heard any alerts despite being in the same room as the phone (which totally defeats the purpose).
I've already missed out on 2 jobs this week because of this (which goes to show the cutthroat nature of this business: you respond 15 to 20 minutes late and you've lost the job), and I can't afford to lose any more jobs, nor can I be arsed to check my emails every 3 to 5 minutes or sit in front the of the computer all day long to rely on desktop notifications.
Is any other Iphone user here having this problem or has experienced it in the past? How do I resolve this issue? Without the Gmail notifications, the phone is of about as much use as a Nokia 6110. ▲ Collapse | | | Tom in London Uingereza Local time: 03:19 Mwanachama(2008) Kitaliano hadi Kiingereza

I'm one. No matter how many times I check all my settings, I still find that my iPhone cannot be relied on to send me messages, notifications etc.
Checking my iPhone settings has become a time-comsuming task.
Apple has made the settings so complicated and so numerous, and given them strange names, that I'm constantly asking ChatGPT to tell me how to do things. And needless to say, ChatGPT can be very wide of the mark.
The unreliability of iPhone is one reason why I prefer to use email on my desktop computer.

Oddly enough I seem to get notifications from Proz all the time, like when I heard the email sound on the phone thinking it might be a job from an agency, but only to find it was your reply to this topic
I never had this issue about 2 weeks ago where I would receive sound notifications for every email, but now it's totally random and arbitrary. I might receive 3 or 4 emails with sound on a row, but after that the phone goes into radio silence or I receive totally unnecessary emails from Proz or ATA, but miss important emails from agencies.
I tried most of the suggestions online short of uninstalling and reinstalling the Gmail app. I don't know what else to do.. if it goes on like this I'll seriously consider buying an Android phone, though I'm not sure if I'll have a similar issue with Android as well. | | | Novian Cahyadi Indonesia Local time: 10:19 Mwanachama(2024) Kiingereza hadi Bahasa/Kiindoneshia/Kiindonesia

Don't bother. I'm experiencing the same on my Android smartphone. Whereas my desktop email client would notify me right away when a new email arrives.
Smartphones are just too unreliable for conducting businesses. The only solution is to chain yourself to your desk. | |

What's the point of freelancing if you're going to sit staring at the screen all day (in your case that must be during the ungodly hours)? You might as well consider yourself an 'office worker' or a 'slave to the computer'.

I disagree. If it weren't for the email alerts on my phone, I'd have earned about less than half of what I earned last year.
I'd fire up the computer, go to the client's website/job page or reply to their email as soon as I heard the email notification sound on my phone (even from another room), that's how I beat the competition and got the jobs. Without being able to hear the email notifications I'm pretty much f*cked, totally at the mercy of chance...
I can't believe people are taking this in their stride and talking about desktop notifications instead. This the single most important thing a phone or any technological device could provide to a freelance translator. | | | | Novian Cahyadi Indonesia Local time: 10:19 Mwanachama(2024) Kiingereza hadi Bahasa/Kiindoneshia/Kiindonesia

I'm busy at my church on most weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends. So I do need to maintain typical office working hours. I made this information public, including my timezone in the standardized UTC offset. That way, clients wouldn't have to make much guesswork as to when they can expect immediate replies from me.
I'd still answer promptly to business inquiries outside my stated work hours if and when I can. But church stuff comes first.
I disagree.

Good to hear that you've decided to get 'empowered' through Christ after masquerading here briefly under the name 'Mr. Satan'
Btw I do apologize for the poor choice of words ('ungodly') earlier. It would seem that what's considered 'ungodly' over here is very much 'godly' at your neck of the woods, especially if you're holding an office in a church.

I don't know what you're talking about, Baran Bey.

Pssshh, relax. I'm not the type to easily get offended by such a harmless remark.
especially if you're holding an office in a church.
Lol! Nah, it's nothing prestigious like that. Just helping out whenever I can, you know.

Anyway, going back on topic. Touchscreens and I aren't good friends. I am really struggling to type on these things. As of late, I'm thinking of getting myself a small laptop to carry around with me. At least I can type properly on a physical keyboard while having reliable email notifications. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Erratic behaviour of Iphone push notifications Trados Business Manager Lite | Create customer quotes and invoices from within Trados Studio
