Les predictions d'Erwin Schr6dinger etaient fondees sur les travaux du physicien britannique Paul Dirac. Translation - English Zitterbewegung, the German for "tremor" is the term coined by Erwin Schrodinger, one of the "fathers" of quantum mechanics, to describe the tremor that takes place when electrons and other quantum particles are confined within a small space. The extremely high speed of this "tremor" made it impossible to study. Austrian physicists have finally succeeded in reproducing the tremor, simulating the movement using laser beams.
Erwin Schrodinger's predictions were based on the work of British physicist Paul Dirac, who, in 1928 developed an equation combining the laws of quantum mechanics and the special theory of relativity. It described the behaviour of a family of particles that includes electrons, which scatter at a speed almost as fast as the speed of light. Dirac's equation showed that these particles behaved in a surprising manner when confined within a restricted space. They were transformed into their own anti-matter (e.g. anti-electrons) and back again continuously.
In 1930, whilst studying the implications of this equation, Schrodinger came up with his Zitterbewegung hypotheses, that the "tremor" is generated, not by any external force, but by the interferences that develop between a particle and its anti-particle.
Short wavelength and High Frequency
"The wavelength of these vibrations is very short, 10–12 metres, " explained Alain Comtet of the Orsay Theoretical Physics and Statistical Modelling Laboratory, "and its frequency is so very fast, 10-21 Hz, that no instrument is able to measure it."
Given that we cannot witness this phenomenon directly, René Gerritsma and his team at the Institute for Quantum Optics in Innsbruck set about recreating a model that could be measured, using a system with the same characteristics as that studied by Schrodinger. They used a calcium ion, whose speed they controlled with a laser. A second laser enabled them to place the ion in two quantum states, which interacted with one another. In formal terms, this reproduced the particle/anti-particle relationship as described in the Dirac equation.
Analogy
The Austrian physicists therefore had a system whose behaviour was governed by an equation similar to that of the Zitterbewegung. Using a third laser, a series of measures could be carried out at a rate of fifty or so per second, enabling them to study the ion's "tremor" at a frequency of several tens of thousands of Hz. It should therefore be possible, using Analogous approaches such as these, to study the effects of the Zitterbewegung on electron behaviour and in magnetic or high-temperature superconductivity phenomena.

Deux importants industriels de la viande, le leader français Bigard/Socopa et Cooperl ont refusé de participer au Marché du Porc Breton (MPB), jugeant le prix du porc français trop élevé par rapport à nos voisins européens. Les deux industriels représentent à eux-seuls 30 % des achats de porcs au MPB.
La guerre des prix est donc relancée. Après de longues discussions entre les acteurs de la filière bovine et le gouvernement, les éleveurs ont obtenu la revalorisation du prix du porc à 1,40 euro le kilo à la mi-juillet. Un prix que n’acceptent pas Bigard et Cooperl. Pendant qu’ « une volonté ‘politique’ de court terme a réussi à porter le cours à 1,40 euro » en France, « l'Allemagne abaissait brutalement son prix d’achat » et « à ce jour 25 centimes séparent le cours français du cours allemand », explique Cooperl dans un courrier du 6 août dernier envoyé à ses adhérents et révélé par l’AFP. « Les capitaux de la Cooperl sont la propriété de ses adhérents, ils n’ont pas vocation à financer un cours politique pour tenir la tête hors de l’eau à une partie de la production française », ajoute la coopérative. « Notre effort ira en totalité à l’abattage et à la valorisation des porcs de nos adhérents », annonce-t-elle en précisant qu’elle suspend ses achats externes au cadran à compter de lundi.
Les deux industriels ont donc choisi de boycotter le marché au cadran de Plérin, en Bretagne, où les prix du porc sont fixés pour 18% de l’élevage français et ils servent ensuite de référence au niveau national. « Pas de cotation... Situation inédite ce lundi après-midi: 4 acheteurs présents, 3 absents », explique le site du Marché du Porc Breton. « On a pas vu ça depuis plus de 30 ans », note Jean-Pierre Joly, directeur du MPB.
Si le prochain marché reste prévu ce jeudi, son avenir est incertain. « Dans ce genre de situation, on gère à la minute », explique Jean-Pierre Joly. « Le gouvernement a incité certains acteurs à pousser le prix à 1,40 euro. Il doit maintenant assumer des
contreparties pas forcément prévues dès le départ ». Pour le directeur du MPB, « le prix du porc doit être celui qui permet d'assurer l’export ». Mais il comprend aussi la situation des éleveurs qui doivent faire face à une compétition accrue: « le marché du nord de l’Europe est approvisionné par des porcs vendus 25 centimes de moins qu'en France. Les éleveurs subissent la hausse de 8 % de la production espagnole, certains pays ont
un avantage compétitif grâce au coût de la main d’œuvre », énumère Jean-Pierre Joly.
« Le marché français est asphyxié et ne pourra pas s’en sortir sans mesures d'accompagnement ».

Whilst “a short term political will succeeded in bringing the price of pork up to 1.40 euros” in France, “Germany has slashed its prices for pork” and “today there is a 25 cents difference between French and German pork prices.” explained Cooperl in a letter dated August 6, sent to its members and revealed by the AFP (Agence France Press). “Cooperl’s capital belongs to its members, it’s not their job to finance a political pricing system in order to keep part of French production afloat” added the co-operative. “Our efforts will be entirely devoted to the slaughter and processing of our members’ pigs,” it announced specifying that it suspended its external purchasing on the market as of Monday.
The two processors have therefore chosen to boycott the Plérin market in Brittany, where pork prices were fixed for 18% of French reared livestock and were then used as a national benchmark. “There was no fixed market price ….And a first this Monday afternoon, 4 buyers were there but 3 were absent” as posted by the Brittany Pork Market on its website. “We haven’t seen that in over 30 years”, said Jean-Pierre Joly, BPM director.
While the next market is still scheduled for this Thursday, it’s future is uncertain. “In this type of situation, we manage things minute by minute”, said Jean-Pierre Joly. “The government encouraged certain actors to push the price up to 1.40 euros. They now need to take responsibility for the consequences, which were not predicted at the outset”. According to the BPM director, “ the price of pork should be set at a level that enables them to export it”. However he also understands the position of the farmers, who face greater competition, “the Northern European market is supplied with pigs sold for 25 cents less than in France. Breeders are having to contend with the 8% increase in Spanish production and some countries have a competitive advantage thanks to their labour costs”, continued Jean-Pierre Joly. “The French market is being suffocated and it won’t make it on its own without backing”.

Source text - French Les cellules photovoltaïques sont constituées de matériaux semi-conducteurs qui convertissent directement l’énergie solaire en électricité, sous forme de courant continu. Lorsque les particules de lumière (photons) viennent heurter la surface d’une cellule, une tension électrique apparaît entre son côté positif et son côté négatif. Dès que le circuit électrique est fermé à l’aide d’une lampe, d’un moteur, etc., le courant peut circuler. La tension est peu variable alors que le courant est proportionnel à la lumière reçue. La majorité des cellules sont actuellement à base de silicium cristallin et ont un rendement de conversion de la lumière en électricité compris entre 12 et 20 %.
Une fois soudées entres elles les cellules sont « encapsulées » : prises en sandwich entre un fond rigide et du verre. Un cadre métallique vient renforcer le tout. Les modules photovoltaïques sont prêts. On peut trouver des modules d’à peine 10 Watts-crête, comme des modules de près de 200 Watts-crête, pour répondre à toutes sortes d’applications.
Qu’est-ce que le « Watt-crête » (Wc) ?
Le dimensionnement des centrales photovoltaïques ne se mesure pas en m2 mais en Watt-crête. En effet, selon les technologies utilisées, il faut des centrales de surfaces différentes, pour obtenir la même production d‘électricité. Le Watt-crête est une unité représentant la puissance électrique maximale délivrée par une installation électrique solaire pour un ensoleillement standard de 1000 W/m2 à 25°C.
Les centrales photovoltaïques produisent une quantité d’électricité, mesurée en kilowattheure (kWh), qui peut soit être injectée dans le réseau, soit stockée dans des batteries.
Les technologies
Il existe plusieurs technologies de cellules photovoltaïques :
• La technologie monocristalline : cellules d’aspect uni, de ton bleu nuit à noir, très
performante. Une surface de 7 m2 représente une puissance d’ 1 kWc. Cette technologie est à privilégier lorsque les conditions d’orientation et d’inclinaison idéales se présentent (plein sud, toiture à 35°) et lorsque l’on souhaite privilégier une puissance maximale pour une surface donnée.
• La technologie polycristalline : cellules d’aspect nacré, de ton bleu. C’est la technologie la plus installée car elle présente un bon rapport coût/puissance installée. Elle est un peu moins performante que la technologie monocristalline (9m2 pour 1 kWc). On l’utilise pour une orientation générale au sud.
• La technologie des couches minces : une seule cellule pour des modules entièrement unis de tons rouges à gris. Elle se présente sous la forme de films souples ou de modules rigides. Le rendement est moins bon (au moins 15 m2 pour une puissance d’ 1 kWc). Plutôt réservée aux projets de grandes envergures, on l’utilise dans des orientations est/ouest et pour l’étanchéité en élastomère souple de toitures terrasses et industrielles. Elle est privilégiée pour les projets qui cherchent la surface maximale couverte pour un budget donné.
Translation - English Solar cells are made up of semi-conductible materiel, which convert solar energy directly into electricity in direct current. Once the light particles (photons) come into contact with the cell’s surface, an electrical voltage appears between its positive side and its negative side. Once the electrical circuit is closed, using a lamp or a motor for example, the current can circulate. Whilst the voltage varies very little, the current is proportional to the light given out. Today, the majority of cells are made using crystalline silicon with a light to electricity conversion yield of between 12 and 20%.
Once the cells are welded together they are “encased”, i.e. they are sandwiched between a rigid base and glass and then reinforced by a metallic frame. The photovoltaic units are then ready. Unit sizes vary from just 10 peak watts, to units of almost 200 peak watts, to suit a variety of applications.
What is a “peak watt” (Wp)?
The size of a solar plant is not measured in m2 but in peak watts. In order to produce the same amount of electricity, the size of the plant will differ depending on the technology employed. The peak watt is a unit that represents the maximum electrical energy output of a solar electrical installation based on a standard amount of sunlight of 1000 W/m2 at 25°C .
The electricity generated by a solar plant, which is measured in kilowatt hours (kWh), can either be injected into the network or stored in batteries.
The technologies
There exist several solar cell technologies:
• Monocrystalline technology : high performing cells of uniform midnight blue/black appearance. A surface area of 7m2 represents 1 kWp of energy. This technology is the best option when ideal conditions in terms of orientation and inclination (that is on a south facing roof with a 35° inclination) are met and when the main objective is to have maximum power for a fixed surface area.
• Polycrystalline technology : cells of pearly blue appearance. This is the most frequently employed technology because it is the most cost effective way of generating energy. It is not as efficient as monocrystalline technology (9m2 for 1 kWp). It is used when the installation is more or less south facing.
• Thin layer technology : single cell, uniformly red and grey units. It can either come in the form of flexible films or in rigid units. They are less efficient (requiring at least 15 m2 for 1 kWp of energy). Generally reserved for large projects with an east/west orientation and to create a flexible elastomer waterproof seal for industrial roofs and terraces. It is used for projects where the aim is to cover a maximum surface area for a fixed budget.
