Contagion risk is given, if (i) the AIF (Alternative Investments Fund) has full recourse to the borrowing entity's assets, or (ii) the AIF has granted a
guarantee or other credit support through which it assumed a liability vis-à-vis the bank in respect of the borrowing entity's obligations under the loan/guarantee.

Indicators that a guarantee (or other form of credit support) may not trigger "contagion risk" are e.g.:

The guarantee provides only cover for limited amounts of the outstanding claims, or only for interim periods, or the aim of the guarantee is primarily to incentivise certain behaviour of the AIF (e.g. "** bad boy guarantees **") or is merely a technicality to enable to obtain or enforce funded collateral provided by the AIF.
